Chief designers of ship machinery and instrumentation holding a council at Krylov

6 April 2016, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexander Potapov chaired this year’s first session of the Council of Chief Designers (ship machinery & instrumentation) held at the Krylov State Research Centre.

The leaders of the working groups Krylov Director General v. S. Nikitin (ship machinery WG) and Electropribor Director General v. G. Pesheknonov (ship instrumentation WG) informed the audience about the work done since the Council foundation and presented prospective work plans for 2016 — 2017.

Vladimir Nikitin spoke about the development of modern machinery and instrumentation for ship applications under the current state programs. Participant of the meeting discussed in detail the development and shipbuilding applications of new composite and construction materials, and various coatings, introduction of innovative technologies for manufacturing of polymer composite structures, as well as the main vectors of marine radio-electronic systems’ evolution with a view to application in integrated ship control systems. Among the key speakers were representatives of the Krylov State Research Centre, Central Research Institute of Structural Materials Prometei, Shipbuilding & Shiprepair Technology Center, Central Research Institute of Marine Engineering, Concern Avrora.

Senior executives of Ural Diesel-Motor Plant, Kolomensky Zavod and Krylov State Research Centre spoke about improvement and robustness of ship powering machinery, methods and technologies to this end.

The Council of Chief Designers was attended by top executives and leading engineers of major institutes and industries of the Russian shipbuilding cluster.
