By order of Russian Geographic Society (RGS) Centre of Underseas Exploration, Deepwater Tank of the KSRC successfully performed a scheduled annual certification of C-Explorer 3.11 manned underwater vehicle (developed by Dutch company U-Boat Worx). On August 18, 2015, during the celebrations of the RGS’s 170th anniversary, Russian President Vladimir Putin used this very submersible to dive to the galleons sunken in the Black Sea off the Balaklava coast. Today, C-Explorer 3.11 is one of the most universal research submersibles. It can dive as deep as 300 m under water with endurance of 6 hours, thus being capable, among other things, of performing research studies, monitoring underwater objects and carrying out rescue operations. C-Explorer 3.11 meets IMO regulations for underwater vehicles.

Unique test facilities of the KSRC can handle the studies of any complexity. The Deepwater Tank, where C-Explorer 3.11 tests took place, is intended for various towing and self-propulsion model tests of surface ships and submarines, as well as for full-scale testing of certain submersibles.
